————- Torn in NYC —————-
If you (and maybe three others) have been keeping up with this blog then you know I have been counting down to the first big trade show with my handbag collection, urban:kitty. We arrived back home Friday evening and I have yet to post a recap of the adventure because I am quite torn on how I feel about it. On one hand, it was a wonderful learning experience. On the other hand–the one that is digging into an empty pocket searching for funds–we were unable to write any orders. I am finding this a bit difficult to swallow.
The overall feedback was good, with some comments about price being too high and lack of closures on a couple of styles. I guess I assumed the buyers at this show would understand the reasons for the pricing–they are made from upholstery-grade fabric and handmade in America, among a few other things. Unfortunately the buyers at this show were not of the high-end boutique-type I had expected to attend a show in NYC.

this can be yours for free! all you have to do is leave a comment that includes your favorite local shop that should carry our handbags!
I am currently following up with a few valid prospects from the show and am hoping to get a few orders from that. I am also going to hit the streets locally and start shopping these bags around to boutiques in Lafayette, Baton Rouge and New Orleans. So in order to narrow my list of shops to a manageable sum I am sending out a request to all of the fans of urban:kitty handbags for a quick list of your favorite shops that you think should carry our bags. To return the favor I am giving away a Scrappy Art Cuff to a randomly selected commenter on Friday, October 2, 2009. Either comment to this post or visit us on Facebook where I will also list this giveaway. Become a fan while you are there!

Meeeeeeeeow! Go, girl!
Oops forgot to leave my favorite shops, but I told you them already. BTW – LOVE my cuff and t-shirt!
I just looked at you purses and I’m in lust with them! I saved it to my Christmas file to hint at the husband. *lol* I don’ know of any shops around here in FL besides Beals Outless, Ross, TJ Maxx, or Target – the last would be awesome!
